Lord Rama's life is one of perfect adherence to dharma (righteousness) despite harsh tests of life and experience. Sri Rama Rajyam movie tells how poet Valmiki, the writer of the epic Ramayana narrates the script in general. The movie further showcases the events in Lord Rama's life and how his campaign goes on later he saves Sita from Ravana and also highlights the central principle's of Ramayana and Lord Rama How An Ideal Son, An Ideal Brother, An Ideal Husband, and An Excellent Emperor should do.
The film starts with the return of Rama and Sita to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravan in Lanka. Rama is presently the king of Ayodhya. Under his rule, the people are happy and prosperous. Just when everything seems to be working fine, a commentary by a washerman makes Rama give Sita away into the jungle. From here the real story of Sri Rama Rajyam begins.
Sita is given shelter by Sage Valmiki. He keeps her status a secret and looks after her as his own daughter. Sita gives birth to Lava and Kusha. Valmiki imparts information to them and also teaches them how to use shelter (Artha Vidya). They also study Ramayana and Valmiki asks them to preach the story over the length and width of Ayodhya. At that juncture, Rama plans to conduct Ashwamedha Yagnam for the welfare of the characters.
